Netflix Orders 8-Episode "Resident Evil" Live-Action Series

Netflix is making a live-action Resident Evil series inspired by the popular video game franchise. The streaming platform ordered eight episodes of the show, which will be overseen by Supernatural co-showrunner Andrew Dabb.

"Resident Evil is my favorite game of all time," Dabb said. "I'm incredibly excited to tell a new chapter in this amazing story and bring the first-ever Resident Evil series to Netflix members around the world. For every type of Resident Evil fan, including those joining us for the first time, the series will be complete with a lot of old friends, and some things (bloodthirsty, insane things) people have never seen before."

The series will take focus on two separate timelines that revolve around Jade Wesker (presumably the child of Albert Wesker, a main antagonist from the games). Here's what the official synopsis says:

“In the first timeline, 14-year-old sisters Jade and Billie Wesker are moved to New Raccoon City. A manufactured, corporate town, forced on them right as adolescence is in full swing. But the more time they spend there, the more they come to realize that the town is more than it seems and their father may be concealing dark secrets. Secrets that could destroy the world,” reads the official description. “Cut to the second timeline, well over a decade into the future: there are less than 15 million people left on Earth. And more than six billion monsters — people and animals infected with the T-virus. Jade, now 30, struggles to survive in this New World, while the secrets from her past — about her sister, her father and herself — continue to haunt her.”

No release date has been set.

The singer spoke for just under 20 seconds, implying that the recent killings are weighing on his mental: “It’s really hard for me to celebrate right now and enjoy this moment, so I’m just gonna say justice for Jacob Blake and justice for Breonna Taylor,” he told the audience.

Breonna Taylor was shot and killed by Louisville Metro Police Department officers executing a no-knock search warrant at her apartment. Officers fatally shot Taylor who was in her bed during the unannounced break-in. The shooting sparked protests across the nation.

Blake was shot in the back by police in Kenosha, Wisconsin while attempting to enter his vehicle. Blake is reportedly paralyzed from the waist down after being shot at seven times. The shooting prompted NBA players to go on strike amidst the playoffs. They returned to play Saturday, having settled on several agreements with ownership, including that NBA stadiums be used as voting centers for the upcoming presidential election in November.

Check back later tonight to see other winners from the event.

Over $1 Million Of Cocaine Washes Ashore On Florida Beach

US Border Patrol seized over $1 million worth of cocaine, after a beachgoer said they found the drugs washed up on the shore, last week.

30 packages containing cocaine were found south of Fort Lauderdale, according to a statement from US Border Patrol Miami Sector. "The 30 packages of cocaine weighed approximately 78 pounds with an estimated street value of over one million dollars," the statement said, according to CNN.

"On Monday, a beachgoer discovered 30 packages with 78 lbs. of cocaine that washed-up at #Hollywood Beach #Florida," Chief Patrol Agent John Modlin wrote on Twitter, August 26. "Miami Sector #BorderPatrol Agents seized the narcotics, valued at over 1 million dollars. Thankfully, the 78 lbs. of drugs didn’t make it into our community."

The washed-up cocaine is the latest in a continuing trend, says Border Patrol. During July and August, Border Patrol Miami Sector seized over 210 pounds of cocaine.

"These recent seizures represent hundreds of pounds of narcotics that will not make it into our streets or into our communities," Modlin said in a statement to CNN. "We are grateful for the community's support to our border security mission here in Florida."

Modin says the recent traffic is a sign of drug smugglers operating along the Florida coast.

After a relatively subdued performance of "PEEP HOLE," DaBaby is arrested by police, alongside the Jabbawockeez. From there DaBaby raps "Blind" from the back of a cop car, before breaking free to climax with an energetic performance of "Rockstar." Throughout the show, DaBaby rocked a Lakers outfit from head to toe.

Back in June, DaBaby released an updated version of "Rockstar" to include a verse on police brutality. "Bias and pushing negative narratives/I'm ready though/Cops wanna pull me over, embarrass me/Abusing power," he raps in the song.

DaBaby is nominated for several awards tonight including Artist of the Year, Best Hip-Hop, Best Choreography, and Best Cinematography for his song with Camila Cabello, "My Oh My." Keke Palmer is serving as the host of the virtual ceremony.

Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande, Doja Cat, The Weeknd, and more will also be performing.

"We believe it is the duty of every American to peacefully stand up, speak out, address injustice, especially those resulting from racial inequities and ending in violence," Mayfield said.

Mayfield has already announced that he plans to kneel for the National Anthem this season.

He continued his sentiments after practice, expanding on his ideas: "That just shows that you're in it with them. It's not a separated or it's not a one-sided movement," said Mayfield. "I can't put myself in their shoes for some of the inequalities that they have gone through and some of the things they have gone through, but I am trying to do the best I can by hearing their stories and sharing that. That's the best part about it is hearing their stories so I can really start to feel their frustration and anger and push forward with them because that is what it's about. It is about all trying to create change together and be that solution."

A number of teams responded to the shooting of Jacob Blake, this week, starting with the NBA, where teams protested multiple playoff games.

Adele Posts Pic From Notting Hill Carnival, Fans Slam Her For Cultural Appropriation

Adele shared a new photo on Instagram Sunday night that instantly is going viral. The picture shows the singer in a Jamaican flag bikini top, yoga pants, and a new hairstyle.

"Happy what would be Notting Hill Carnival my beloved London," Adele wrote on Instagram, Sunday night, in tribute to the annual event. The street festival is held every August in Notting Hill, London, but was canceled this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. The picture was presumably taken at last year's Notting Hill Carnival.

Once again, Sunday's Instagram post shows Adele's remarkable weight loss over the last year.

The picture's comment section is filled with debate between fans with many arguing that Adele is committing cultural appropriation with her hairstyle and bikini top and others defending her. "She is from London and 🇯🇲 is part of the culture here so just stop and acknowledge she’s paying homage," one fan commented. "Ok for everyone who doesn’t understand. That reason ppl are angry is because black women have been judged for their hair for years, but when 1 white women does it she is praised for it," another fan explained. "It’s annoying and unfortunate. So yes it’s offensive."
